I start playing MORMORMOR

June 1, 2008 Mor-Mor-Mor draft UW Kithkin/Wizard/Soldier Result: Eliminated round 2.

I won't post the first two drafts, they didn't go well at all, and were my first two attempts at this format. I can't imagine they would be very informative to anyone else. The third one went a bit better, and I'll post it here. I learned a lot from these 3 drafts, but still have quite a bit to learn, more than I doubt I'll pick up before Shadowmoor comes out and I abandon it for the most part.

1 thing I picked up, the power level and speed are ramped up quite a bit from XXX drafting.

1 Swell of Courage
1 Mutavault
1 Stream of Unconsciousness
2 Burrenton Bombardier
1 Wandering Graybeard
2 Stonybrook Schoolmaster
2 Fencer Clique
1 Burrenton Shield-Bearers
1 Sage of Fables
8 Island
1 Mothdust Changeling
2 Kithkin Zephyrnaut
1 Changeling Sentinel
2 Stonybrook Banneret
2 Veteran's Armaments
1 Diviner's Wand
8 Plains
1 Latchkey Faerie
1 Order of the Golden Cricket
1 Ballyrush Banneret

1st match:
prodigyrising 1700, who was playing a WG kithkin/elves deck with lots of combat tricks and removal (specifically coordinated barrage, weight of conscience, earthbrawn). I earned a healthy respect for coordinated barrage over the course of the 3 games. He had a zillion and used them well (i passed several, being inexperienced). I won the match, the armaments served very well, as did the swell.

2nd match:
sof3n, 1753, who was playing mono red elementals. My lord. Lots of brighthearth bannerets backing sunflare shamans, rage forger, vengeful firebrand, removal, it was quite brutal and effecient. I was reduced to a cinder quickly in 2 games.

Overall, I'm just doing what I typically do in a new format, learning the cards, seeing archetypes in action, noticing things. I was quite happy to win 2 packs and a mutavault really.

Deck looks kind of slow - biggest problem i see is lack of kill. coordinate barrage works (but people tend to hold back with targets that you would want to kill - bramblewood paragons and wolf-skull shamans and such) for white I like weight of concience much better. Personally don't like kithkin or wizards, although both can work well. I've seen decks use a ton of the little 2/1 merfolk wizard for two mana which mills 3 cards if you win kinship. This sometimes works if you have enough of them and all wizards, only problem is they aren't sturdy and usually you end up blocking with them to save yourself :(
