SHM Draft, June 15, 2008, UB. Result: Won draft.

Flying is good. Incremental Blight is good. Not too much to add. The games went well. I was glad I added the scarecrow and ditched the memory plunder at the last minute. Its a solid creature, and I needed a 14th. Pick 1 was the blight which i chose over the 4/4 unblockable ghostlord avatar dude.

Hey Hatter.

That was a tough choice to choose blight over ghastlord of fugue, in fact I probably would have taken the fugue (and not won the draft) can you share you thinking on it? i.e. is fugue too constrictive if you dont get handed UB while blight is always splashable (since you might get some gloomlances too?)

I also underestimated loch korrigan, until i faced down an 8/8 loch on a stalled board.

Basically, blight is a potential 3 for 1 removal, which is a serious change in the game state. Bank that with its synergy with infestation and you can have a major effect on the game. Fugue, while a heck of creature (provided you are playing mono-blue, mono-black, or blue/black, is essentially just a creature. It can be killed, chained, as other creatures can. Just harder to block. Fugue is also more restrictive. It's essentially really only that lovely in the 3 colour combinations, and if the cards being passed just aren't in those...you either lose a first pick or force a colour you shouldn't be in (the first is no great loss, but second will lose you the draft). Loch is decent if you can pump if with all your mana. I wouldn't play more than 2, and it at worst draws fire away from something else.
